Pale Phoenix Jacket
$750.00 / Sold Out
A one of a kind jacket pieced with silk fabric from vintage Japanese kimonos. The fabric is printed with traditional Japanese imagery such as phoenix birds, chrysanthemums, ocean waves and hills. The mythological Phoenix birds represent eternal life. Tradition says they die in fire and are reborn out of the ashes. 5 glass 'pearl' buttons line the front. The jacket is fully lined with silk charmeuse.
A classic straight sided shape, I call this style 'Chanel'.
The garment measures 39 inches bust, 42 inches hips, length at center back 23 inches. Size petite. [Approximate industry size 6-8.]
All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. Fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. These very special fabrics were woven, stenciled, tie-dyed and painted by Japanese artisans. Many were still in the bolt on their way to become kimonos. Others had been sewn into kimonos but were no longer wearable. I remove the hand stitching, wash and prepare the fabrics for their new life. Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
