Cranes Over Ocean Oversize Coat
$1,200.00
This oversize coat is sewn from two very special vintage silk kimonos. In Japanese culture, cranes are a symbol of happiness, long life and good luck. I rearranged and pieced the fabric to suggest the colorful cranes are flying up and out over the ocean waves below. This is a full, roomy jacket, I call it 'oversize.' There are angled pockets at the sides. Fully lined with silk charmeuse. Five corozo buttons line the front. One size fits most.
Shown worn over a white, kimono silk 'hitoe' blouse/top.
Garment measures 56 inches bust, 58 inches hips, length at center back 39 inches. Oversize, one size fits most.
$1200
All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. Fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. The very special fabric used in this trench coat was woven, stenciled and painted by Japanese artisans and finally sewn into a kimono. I removed the hand stitching, washed and prepared the fabric and sewed it into my trench coat design.
Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
