Winter Birches

A one of a kind kimono silk jacket in an off white with black details. Narrow strips of silk were hand appliquéd in vertical lines to mimic a forest of birch trees in winter. Small glass beads were stitched in place along the strip edges to add texture. The jacket can be worn with the top button open or closed. 6 black glass buttons line the front. The jacket is fully lined with silk charmeuse.

The garment measures 45 inches bust, 47 inches hips, length at center back 22 1/2 inches. Size medium. [Approximate industry size 14-16.]

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. Fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. These very special fabrics were woven, stenciled, tie-dyed and painted by Japanese artisans. Many were still in the bolt on their way to become kimonos. Others had been sewn into kimonos but were no longer wearable. I remove the hand stitching, wash and prepare the fabrics for their new life. Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
