Red and Green Maple Leaves
A one of a kind jacket pieced from vintage Japanese kimono silks. The body of the jacket is a beautiful sand colored silk covered with hand painted red and green maple leaves. The flax colored sleeves are woven is a rushing stream design. Subtle reminders of the kimono's past life, I'm championing the fade lines and suggesting that they are faux cuffs. Fully lined with silk charmeuse and with 6 buttons, it can be worn with the top button open or closed.
A classic straight sided shape, I call this style 'Chanel'. Garment measures 44 inches bust, 46 inches hips, length at center back 23 inches. [Approximate industry size 14-16.]

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. Most fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. These very special fabrics were woven, stenciled, tie-dyed and painted by Japanese artisans. Many were still in the bolt on their way to become kimonos. Others had been sewn into kimonos but were no longer wearable. I remove the hand stitching, wash and prepare the fabrics for their new life. Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
