Red and White Squares Full Skirt

$850.00

A one of a kind full skirt. The first picture shows the skirt with a black hitoe top. The skirt is pieced from a gorgeous cotton ikat. 'Ikat' is a weaving technique where the threads are tied off and dyed then they are woven. The soft edges around the squares are a results of this technique. I've pieced in strips of red to add a bit of zip to the design. The skirt is fully lined in red. It has a zipper and hook closure for dressing ease. The waistband has elastic for comfort.

To mimic the fullness of the skirt flaring out as the wearer moves or turns, I'm showing the skirt with a petticoat underneath. The petticoat is included. I've also included a picture of it without to show how it hangs alone.

The skirt's elasticized waist measures between 28 and 34 inches. The length measured from the top of the waistband to the hem is 30 inches.

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. Fabrics are vintage Japanese fabrics. These very special fabrics were woven, stenciled, tie-dyed and painted by Japanese artisans. Many were still in the bolt on their way to become kimonos. Others had been sewn into kimonos but were no longer wearable. I remove the hand stitching, wash and prepare the fabrics for their new life. Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
