Orange Ume and Grass Hitoe

A loose fitting, straight sided blouse, I call this design 'hitoe,' which means unlined. This versatile top can be worn on its own, like a blouse, or over something else like a light weight jacket. It is sewn from a gorgeous orange colored Japanese kimono silk with gold cherry blossoms scattered over blue/green blades of grass. The collar is a speckled gold matching the gold of the flowers. The sleeves can be rolled up to reveal the same silk as the collar. 5 glass buttons line the front.

Garment measures 44 inches bust, 46 inches hips, length at center back 23 inches. Size medium. [Approximate industry size 14-16.]

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. The fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. The very special fabrics used in this 'hitoe' were woven and stenciled by Japanese artisans. Although they had been intended to be sewn into kimonos, the bolts had been in storage.

Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
