Grey and White Painted Stripes Hitoe

A loose fitting, straight sided blouse, I call this design 'hitoe,' which means unlined. This versatile top can be worn on its own, like a blouse, or over something else like a light weight jacket. It is sewn from a striking grey colored Japanese kimono silk of hand painted stripes. The collar is an off white silk printed with a subtle purple line design. The sleeves are a contrasting wave design in a grey/sage color. They can be rolled up to reveal the same silk as the collar. 5 mother of pearl buttons line the front.

Garment measures 41 inches bust, 44 inches hips, length at center back 23 inches. Size small. [Approximate industry size 10 - 12.]

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. The fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. The very special painted stripe fabric used in this 'hitoe' was hand painted by Japanese artisans and sewn into a kimono. I removed the hand stitching, washed, prepared the fabric and sewed it into this top. Although the collar and sleeve fabrics had been intended to be sewn into kimonos, the bolts had been in storage.

Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
