A coat sewn from a red and black vintage Japanese silk plaid. In contrast to the staid order of the plaid, I've appliqued swirling, chaotic lines over the entire coat. The lines are skinny bias tubes of silk, cut, sewn, turned inside out, ironed flat and hand appliqued in place.
The coat is a loose, over-sized design. Pockets are on the side panels. 5 corozo buttons line the front. Corozo is a natural material made from the Tagua nut.
The coat is fully lined with silk charmeuse.
Garment measures 58 inches bust, 59 inches hips, length at center back 39 1/2 inches.
All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. The fabrics used in this coat are vintage Japanese silks. This very special fabric was still in the bolt, it had not yet been sewn into a kimono.
Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
