Bold Black and White Flowers Hitoe

A loose fitting, straight sided blouse, I call this design 'hitoe,' which means unlined. This versatile top can be worn on its own, like a blouse, or over something else like a light weight jacket. It is sewn from a striking Japanese kimono silk. Bold black flowers with red centers set in hexagons are printed on a cream colored background. The collar is an off white silk printed with black maple leaves and bits of red. The sleeves are a contrasting black woven with scattered pine needles. They can be rolled up to reveal the same silk as the collar. 5 black buttons line the front.

Garment measures 41 inches bust, 44 inches hips, length at center back 23 inches. Size small. [Approximate industry size 10 - 12.]

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. The fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. The very special fabrics used in this 'hitoe' were woven and stenciled by Japanese artisans. Although they had been intended to be sewn into kimonos, the bolts had been in storage.

Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
