Black and White Shibori Wave Hitoe

$385.00 / Sold Out

A loose fitting, straight sided blouse, I call this design 'hitoe,' which means unlined. This versatile top can be worn on its own, like a blouse, or over something else like a light weight jacket. It is sewn from an amazing black and white, shibori kimono silk. Shibori is a kind of tie-dye. Tiny sections of the silk are tied off so that when the fabric is dyed the tied areas resist the dye. The collar is a white silk printed with black leaves. The back and sleeves are a contrasting black with a woven pine needle design. The sleeves can be rolled up to reveal the same silk as the collar. 5 vintage glass buttons line the front.

Garment measures 44 inches bust, 46 inches hips, length at center back 23 inches. Size medium. [Approximate industry size 14-16.]

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. The fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. The very special fabrics used in this 'hitoe' were woven and stenciled by Japanese artisans and sewn into a kimono. I removed the hand stitching, washed, prepared the fabric and sewed it into this top. The black fabric was still uncut, it had been intended to be sewn into kimono but it had been in storage.

Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
