Black and White Shibori Flowers

$385.00 / Sold Out

A loose fitting, straight sided blouse, I call this design 'hitoe,' which means unlined. This versatile top can be worn on its own, like a blouse, or over something else like a light weight jacket. It is sewn from a beautiful Japanese kimono silk with a design of shibori flowers. Shibori is a kind of tie-dye. Each little dot was tied before the fabric was dyed black. Every place that was tied remained white. The open collar shows a black a white harbor scene with sailboats, a bridge and trees. The sleeves, sewn from a contrasting black kimono silk, can be rolled up to reveal the same fabric used for the collar. 5 vintage glass buttons line the front.

Garment measures 38 inches bust, 39 inches hips, length at center back 23 inches. Size petite. [Approximate industry size 6-8.]

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. Fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. The very special fabrics used in this 'hitoe' were woven, stenciled and tie-dyed by Japanese artisans and sewn into kimonos. Others were stored as bolts on their way to become a kimono.

Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
